OMG. How is it possible for a sequel to suck this hard? And not in a good way.
Alexis Hall is a fantastic writer, which makes this even worse. I had to finish this twaddle even though the main characters are self-loathing, self-absorbed mumpies, and the plot is mainly about other people and how they enable or extend the neuroses of Luc. I struggled through it simply because it was so well written (in theory).

This was sooooo good. Set in a sports millieu, this is an Enemies to lovers story that evolved over years.
So much better than the first in the series.

Wow

Awfully well done. Parrish enthrals with her words and paints such a vivid picture of living and loving with mental health challenges, that I was totally consumed by the story of Jude and Faron. Faron, how I loved thee!!! My first 5 star review of the year and worth every sparkling point.

This was a gut wrenching, nail biting trip through history as seen through the lenses of a MM romance. Silas Mason, to whom we were introduced in A Fashionable Indulgence, the first novel of the series, is a rough man from the lower classes of Regency England. He is self taught and highly intelligent but is rabidly anti-government and embroiled in activities reeking of sedition and treason. He is also entangled in an affair …Read More

I really enjoyed this book and I didn't think I would so it sat unread for sometime. This author's last effort was so disappointing that I hesitated multiple times but what the hey, I was on a plane and what can ya do? BAM!!! Right from the beginning Henry hooks me. He is hilariously funny in an unscripted, sometimes self deprecating way. He is 35, overweight and approaching his Gay dowager years according to his ex partner …Read More

This was exquisite! Well paced, accurate in medieval historical detail without being overwhelmingly fusty and technical. The characters were charming and I was totally seduced by the cleverness and cunning of Crow (Christian) and the honour of William, the Lion. The depth of their love and passion was palpable and more importantly, believable.
I was truly bereft at the ending but they certainly were not shortchanged by their …Read More

Oh my word! Or words! Lots and lots of beautifully crafted, nicely paced, exquisitely plotted words. Can you tell I loved this book? No? I LOVED THIS BOOK! This combines some of my favorite things; history and effective use of language.
"Among his eccentric though strictly principled group of friends, Lord Richard Vane is the confidant on whom everyone depends for advice, moral rectitude, and discreet assistance. Yet when Ri …Read More

A whole lot of angry/hate sex, internalised homophobia and a fair to middling plot line adds up to a mediocre addition to the Straight Guys series.
This is Vlad's story. He was Roman's bodyguard and was a nasty character in the previous book : Just a bit obsessed. He was homophobic then and is homophobic now though it becomes increasingly clear he is battling repressed homosexuality.
His repressed angst abuts Sebastian's his …Read More

Well! I liked this book a lot but I didn't love it. It centres around Josiah, a game designer, who is easily distracted and hyperactive at baseline and Ryan, a veteran, home for medical procedures and uncertain about his future. The plot was strong and the setup was good. Very promising but I actually think this was the weakest of the trilogy. Why? I didn't feel the chemistry of the MCs as much. The writing was tight as usua …Read More

Very good collaboration between Santino Hassell, whose writing voice I love, and Megan Erickson who obviously was not outclassed in this writing duo.
Explores the themes of online dating, long distance romance and gaming. Kai is a geeky gamer with severe social anxiety disorder bordering on agoraphobia. Garret is active duty armed forces deployed overseas. He is gay but not 'out'. They 'meet' through a hostile online encount …Read More
