Shamed for reading in public

Okay so this isn’t even in public in my case. I was literally just in my own cubicle at work. And I recently started feeling more comfortable bringing my book to work so I could read during free time and avoid screen time. And brooooo one of my coworkers came up to me and told me: “Hey, stop acting all smart-smart.” Like???? Okay this coworker and I joke around and she’s nice, but her jokes are always self-deprecating. I just got turned off because I was literally minding my own business and in my own space. And my other coworkers who read books don’t get told stuff like that :<<< And yeah, even in public spaces, I’ve started feeling shy to read , unlike in high school or college when I felt totally comfortable bringing a book everywhere… Maybe I’m just too young but I’m feeling this too much.

Bride

~ Ali Hazelwood

Book

Bride

Ali Hazelwood

I finished this in 2 days straight, which is huge for me because I usually take a full week to read a book, hopping between others and getting distracted.

My first Ali Hazelwood book. I liked it overall. Solid 4/5. It was also way funnier than I expected. And she actually made the FMC snarky without crossing into annoying, which is a fine balance and she nailed it. I was planning to read Mate next, but I’ve been seeing people say it’s longer and more poorly paced than Bride, so I will probably clear a few other books on my TBR first.

Give me your best

I’d like to learn about important topics that a person should know about, be it Biographies, Economics, Leadership, Business, Politics, Math, Science(any branch) and Technology, Electronics, History, Religion(not religious texts, but to understand religion and it’s effects on humans) etc..(anything else too, these are the topics that came to mind.) can be any subbranch of these topics for example: Economics can contain micro/macro, investing etc.. Politics can include, well, I don’t know anything about politics. I don’t even know the difference between Democrats and Republicans. Math can include it’s history, tricks, important concepts etc.. Science can include Astronomy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology etc.. Tech can include anything tech, computers, machines, Future Tech. History can include World history, History of specific period etc.. Recommend me the books on any topic imaginable which you consider best on that topic, can even be about Cars, Planes, Survival, Design, Law, Cryptography, Programming, etc.. I don’t even know the names of many topics, that’s why my post contains so much “etc’”.

Looking for unbiased books to understand different political and economic theories

I'd like to learn about capitalism, socialism, communism etc.. I don't even know how many of these exist. I only know a little about capitalism and only definitions of socialism and communism. It'd be nice if a single book compares different theories(not only limited to the three mentioned above) with their advantages and disadvantages and possibly with examples. If a single book doesn't mention all of these, do recommend different books in different categories. I'd appreciate if the views of the authors are not much biased because as I'm trying to learn about these concepts bias might make me biased toward the author's views. So different books will also do the trick.

21st Century Sherlock Holmes

Something like Sherlock Holmes collection but the protagonist should use modern technologies too like Internet, smartphone for example. Kinda like it is used in Sherlock(TV show). I guess there might be modern Sherlock holmes adaptions by other authors too. If there are suggest your favorite. Audiobooks will work too.

Best World History Books..

As the title say's I am looking for best world history books. I really liked "A short history of nearly everything" but it was mostly focused on science. I've already read "A little history of the world" and Yuval Noah Harari's both books. So I'm looking for something like that. Well, if not world history, in case you know best history books that you really liked in specific niche then please tell those too, but mention the niche(I'm not sure if niche is the word used for history books) in brackets. Thank you :)
