Strong Signal

Review by Sunshine and rain

Aug 24, 2016
Strong Signal
Santino Hassell

Very good collaboration between Santino Hassell, whose writing voice I love, and Megan Erickson who obviously was not outclassed in this writing duo.
Explores the themes of online dating, long distance romance and gaming. Kai is a geeky gamer with severe social anxiety disorder bordering on agoraphobia. Garret is active duty armed forces deployed overseas. He is gay but not 'out'. They 'meet' through a hostile online encounter in an online game and the story builds from there.
The chemistry between the characters was strong and believable even at a distance, the texting dialogue funny and real. The characters were strong and likeable and the reader gets involved with their problems and the solutions. There were a few slow spots but with a strong underlying theme that propelled the book throughout, there was no room to lose emotional connection with the characters or the book.
Seriously? This is a good book and the smutty bits, once the characters get in the same place (and then get horizontal, vertical and diagonal
