"Your reaction is understandable. Because you're never going to get as close to one of your other friends as you and I are going to get. We're going to sleep in the same bed, shower at the same time, eat, sleap and breathe each other until your boundaries are completely stripped away, Green eyes, because that's the only way to guarantee you're thinking of the target that's about to shoot our Needle down instead of me standin

I started reading this because of praise kink, but it has so many other tropes that I love. It was such a delightful read and I'm only sad that it was so short. I seriously needed another scene with Samuel and Will cuddling on the couch (this time without any interuptions)...

The praise kink also didn't truly come into the scene until very late in the story, but considering the length of the book, the pace felt natural.

"Holy shit," I mumbled. Was I in a coma? A fever induced dream? In what universe did a sexy neighbor come in, tell you everything you needed to know to complete your current chapter, then kiss you senseless?

Toby, a socially awkward dark paranormal romance writer, is doing research for his newest story (about torture, in particular), and his (equally awkward) mysterious neighbor Dex offers some useful information. Toby has th …Read More

A bit disappointed with this one. It's always highly recommended as a funny, romantic, historical fantasy, a cosy read etc. etc. I liked the way it began, it made me laugh right away, and I was like, yeeesss, let's go!

The world building was interesting but then it dragged on in places, and my eyes were glazing over. Tam was such a horrible person to everyone and so fucking unlikeable that I started to think fuck this …Read More

I really really like this book. And this series deserves all the praise. The MC’s narrative voice is distinctive and adds a lot of personality. The mystery is interesting and serves the romance very well. The characters and setting feel grounded and alive.

Sex scenes are hot and character-driven. I usually zone out during these but not for this series. The MCs are still having interesting moment/conversation during sex and th …Read More

The family drama made this book a more compelling and intimate read for me than the first book. I couldn’t put it down. The slow relationship development and the miscommunication are frustrating but in an enjoyable way?

Though I have to say it is kind of upsetting how many injuries Cooper is accumulating in a relatively short span of time.

Another lovely book by KJ Charles. My only complaint really is how over the top evil and obnoxious the villains were. (Listening to the audiobook, and actually hearing Mrs. Conrad’s screechy voice, did not help.) But, as always, KJ Charles is a fantastic writer. I really feel the MCs balance one another out so well here - Charles does a fantastic job of writing couples with genuinely wonderful chemistry.

This was pretty good! I don't love fated mates, which this one skirted quite close to (without ever saying those words), but I thought the way that was handled was interesting - it examined that trope through a more skeptical lens, so the way the relationship eventually ended up felt more natural to me.

Orgasmic blood drinking always gets me, and there is a lot of it. The author knows why you're reading this book and leans th …Read More

While reading it, I felt it was repetitive and slow, and I almost DNF'ed. However, after finishing it, I admired what it was trying to do and found myself going back to reread/skim portions.

There is a twist in the last 5% that changes how the reader views the entire story. I appreciated what the author did with perspective and point of view - the entire narration is skewed by the MC's biases and assumptions, and so the sin …Read More
