Another lovely book by KJ Charles. My only complaint really is how over the top evil and obnoxious the villains were. (Listening to the audiobook, and actually hearing Mrs. Conrad’s screechy voice, did not help.) But, as always, KJ Charles is a fantastic writer. I really feel the MCs balance one another out so well here - Charles does a fantastic job of writing couples with genuinely wonderful chemistry.

I was worried the third book in a trilogy, in which the characters are already in an established relationship, would be boring - but Subtle Blood has a strong, interesting plot, and once things got moving (which was quite early on) I wasn't bored for a second. Couldn't decide whether to give it a 4.5 or 5, I eventually decided on 4.5 because I genuinely do wish it was longer. But what we do get is fantastic and I have no complaints besides wanting more.
