The Wolf at the Door

The Wolf at the Door
Charlie Adhara

I really really like this book. And this series deserves all the praise. The MC’s narrative voice is distinctive and adds a lot of personality. The mystery is interesting and serves the romance very well. The characters and setting feel grounded and alive.

Sex scenes are hot and character-driven. I usually zone out during these but not for this series. The MCs are still having interesting moment/conversation during sex and the scenes never feels tacked on.

The only gripe I have with this book is more of a personal pet peeve : I don’t like having characters dead/murdered and this book has just a tad bit too much. (Yes I know it’s ridiculous to complain about death in murder mystery, but I’m just reading this for the romance.)

I’m on the third book and it’s retroactively making the first book even better.
