I listened to Soul Eater by Lily Mayne and did not enjoy it. Mostly because I didn’t like Danny. He felt almost like a reader-insert character to me; his thoughts, feelings and action never quite build into a coherent character. (And why is he so frustratingly useless in all the dangerous situations?!) Also, the villains are annoyingly over the top evil. Wyn is fine but a little too nice for my liking.
The story really drags in places. The narrator uses a weird flat tone (I think he was aiming for a southern accent?) but it made Danny sound bored (or dead inside) even in emotional situations. His voice for Wyn is pretty cool though.

Do you think you'll continue the series?
@Dove I’m torn on this lol. Maybe later when I get kindle unlimited. Are the human MCs more interesting in the later books?
@greenishio I think so - the MC in the next one is pretty grumpy, for example. I think the author does a pretty good job of making each book have a different dynamic between the MCs. But if you didn't enjoy the first one I don't know if you'll enjoy the rest tbh!
@Dove Good to know, thanks!
