Forces of Nature

Review by Lore

Forces of Nature
Elle Rivers

Character-focused| Good writing, sometimes repetitive words | Dual pov | Lovable characters | A non-cliché ending with an open epilogue

Overall: I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more about Tom in the next book!

Reasons to bump this up your TBR: I loved the deeper layers in this book. Although the relationship between Ruth and Knox is a central theme, I enjoyed the exploration of difficult subjects. (See content warnings)
Knox is in my opinion a top tier bookboyfriend who’s protective but not in a dark romance, toxic kind of way.
Ruth is a strong FMC who has to deal with her own battles. The way she handles what’s thrown at her and how she finds peace with her past made me tear up a little bit.

Reasons to bump this down your TBR: I had a hard time getting into the book. When I was 30% through I finally found myself comfortable reading. In my opinion, it had mostly to do with the over-explaining of how they are rivals and ‘hate’ each other. Although it’s pretty clear from the start there are more complicated feelings involved than just rivalry.

Quote I loved:“Seeing Ruth smile made me remember that I no longer felt only my emotions, but hers too."

Tropes:
Rivals to lovers
One bed
Nightmares

Content warning:
Emotional abuse
Alcohol abuse (minor)
