Ugh. I bet that’s not what you expected to see on this review, is it? Ugh. Because it is UNFAIR when someone has THIS MUCH TALENT. Abby Jimenez is a disgustingly, gloriously, amazingly talented writer.

First, the premise/meet-cute is unique. Justin and Emma both seem to have the same curse. Any time they date someone, they break up and the very next person their ex meets turns out to be The One. So, these two decide – why no …Read More

This is now my second favorite Emily Henry book of all time, but only because nothing can ever beat Beach Read - even though this comes extremely close.

I think the reason her books are all so great is because they are incredibly engaging; she writes in a style that sucks you into the story and doesn't let you go. The characters are fully fleshed out and relatable, and when they feel something, YOU feel it. And as always her …Read More

Ali Hazelwood excels in writing romances set in the STEM world, which isn't something I see very often.

In Not in Love, Dr. Rue Siebert works as a biotech engineer for her friend and mentor and loves everything about her job. Until the day Eli Kilgore and his colleagues show up. They're part of a company that acquires tech firms, and they now have their sights on Rue's company. There's an undeniable and magnetic attraction b …Read More

Dymitr is trying to find Baba Jaga. Finding the most powerful witch in the world isn’t easy if she doesn’t want to be found, so he’s going to need help from Chicago’s magical underworld. Why’s that a problem? He belongs to a religious order that has spent generations killing “monsters”, so why should any want to help him now?

Ala is one of those monsters, a creature that feeds on human fear while living amongst them. She’s in …Read More

Gothic romantasy can be done well or really, really badly. And dark romantasy is really having a moment, so there are a LOT of badly done books out there. But this? This was great.

Book rating: 4/5
Cover rating: 4/5 (Love those colors.)

Elspeth lives in a land that is surrounded by a dangerous fog, where people can catch a fever that gives them magical powers - but these powers cause them to degenerate and die or go mad. The Ki …Read More

Do you like creepy space horror? Did you like Barnes's first book, Dead Silence? Then you're really going to like her newest book, Ghost Station.

Dr. Ophelia Bray is a psychologist specializing in ERS, a space induced psychosis that can turn anyone into a raving murderer. She joins a small band of explorers on a mission to study a planet with alien ruins, hoping to help them avoid ERS. Despite her good intentions the crew res …Read More

Sunbringer picks up right where Godkiller left off, but I don't want to spoil anyone who hasn't read that yet - let's just say all of our characters have some hard truths to face and hard decisions to make. Each is having to face that some of their foundational "truths" may not be so true after all. For Kissen, a godkiller who's always been very black and white about the need to get rid of the gods, relying on them and worki …Read More

I have loved every book written so far by Grady Hendrix. I love how perfectly he captures his southern settings (no shocker, considering he grew up here) and I’m consistently impressed by how well he writes women. His protagonists are usually southern women, and none of the creepy, leering, obsessed-with-her-looks kind of characterization here. Did he grow up with five sisters or something? Because he is SPOT ON, every time. …Read More

Unpopular opinion in 3…2...1…

I know you all loved Onyx Storm. I know, I know. And I can even see why! Dark broody love interest, cool setting, dragons, dragons, dragons.

I’m sorry, I just can’t. It wasn’t bad, but it was… fine. It was just fine.

Let’s start with Violet and Xaden. I know it’s a super popular thing, for the MMC to be a dark, broody, tortured soul who is only made whole by the existence of his love interest, and …Read More

“Better to die sharp in war than rust through a time of peace.”

For me, the last month has been all about catching up on books that I’ve missed but everyone else swears by. And that list could never be complete without The Sword of Kaigen.

First, I want to say how incredibly upset I am. Because I waited too long to read this, I didn’t realize how stunning and perfect it was, and I missed out on the chance to get the jaw-droppi …Read More

This book is quite beautifully written; I'm only giving it 3 stars because, while it was well written, it's just not my kind of story or book, and so didn't hold my interest. For people who DO like this genre/story type, it's 100% worth a read.
