Only in Your Dreams

Review by Lore

Only in Your Dreams
Ellie K. Wilde

I feel like I’ve been repeating myself for the last month about these book boyfriends, but let me tell you: Zac is ranking high on my top-tier book boyfriend list. He’s obsessed with Melody (a mini trope I loooooove) but switches easily between being cocky and having golden retriever characteristics.

Melody hates Zac after what happened the night before she went to college. After 10 years she moves back from the city and a camping trip gone wrong makes them forced to interact with each other.

There is so much banter and tension between them and I love how that never goes away even if the story evolves from enemies to buddies to lovers.

The last 15% is the reason this is a 4-star read for me. I understand they fear the reaction of Mel’s brother after what happened in the past, but please you are 28 years old… The epilogue had an expected, stereotypical ending and if you know me by now, I love a more original ending to a love story.

Tropes:
Small town
second chance
brother’s best friend
enemies to lovers
no third act break up
found family
sport romance (football)

Content warning:
Conversation about gaslighting & love-bombing
violence
