The first part of the book is dark and tense and so enjoyable, and then the second half is more the usual romance stuff, which is still good; and I really like seeing the MC interacting with characters from the previous books, but man that first section chef’s kiss

Really could not get into the appeal of Darian, he just seemed too dumb. Maybe I'm not giving it enough time but I just can't anymore.
