Part of Your World

Review by Scribe After Five

Aug 15
Part of Your World
Abby Jimenez

I finished Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez this morning. It’s a little tricky for me to pin down a full review because I read it sporadically—I was also deep in a binge of The Summer I Turned Pretty at the same time.

One thing I absolutely loved—whether intentional or not—was the subtle nod to Grey’s Anatomy through the characters’ names. It made it so easy for me to put faces to them. Alexis instantly became Addison Montgomery in my head, and Neil? Total McSteamy vibes.

I also adored the magic touch Abby Jimenez added. I wasn’t expecting a whimsical element, but it pulled me slightly out of her grounded world in the best way. It was unexpected, charming, and made me love the story even more.

This is an older woman/younger man romance, and Daniel is all warmth and comfort. I completely understand why Alexis fell for him. The no-nonsense tone of the story was refreshing, and Alexis—successful, ambitious, and determined in her late thirties—might just be, in my opinion, Abby Jimenez’s sexiest FMC so far.

Daniel’s rugged physicality paired with his soft, youthful heart was endearing, even if he didn’t leave as strong of an impression on me as some of Abby’s other MMCs (I’m a Justin Dahl and Jacob Maddox girly through and through). At times, he came across a bit desperate for my taste—but then again, that’s probably the “young guy” energy shining through. Still, his charm is undeniable, and their chemistry? Steamy.

One thing I wish I’d known going in is that this book is part of a series. I actually read Just for the Summer first, then Yours Truly, and then this one—so when familiar character names popped up, I had to pause and look them up to make the connections. While it definitely works as a standalone, reading in order adds a layer of familiarity that’s really satisfying.

I can’t wait to re-read the entire series in order this time and fully enjoy all the connections I missed.

Song choice for this book: Adore You by Harry Styles
