The Damning Stone

The Damning Stone
T.J. Klune

5 stars to TJ Klune for the story
5 stars to Michael Lesley for the narration

I'm so sad there isn't another book in the series at the moment, hopefully TJ will write more books about Verania in the future, but if he doesn't write more then this series ended in a way that had a satisfying enough conclusion that I can accept if there won't be more books down the line.

I know there is book 4.5, Fairytales from Verania which I will read at some point but since it doesn't really follow the story arc like books 1-5 then I will listen to this one when I need a Verania fix.

Tales from Verania 1-5 on audiobook was just what I needed to get lost into for a while. Real life is so heavy right now and this helped make things better. Michael Lesley did an amazing narration, really making all of the characters voices individual and recognizable. He was definitely the right person to narrate this series.

Having gushed all that, I will say I didn't loooooove, this book as much as the others. I did enjoy the story from Prince Justin's perspective and I loved his growth as a person
but I wish we could have spent more time with Dylan and Justin getting to know each other without the kids. For me, the kids were a bit annoying, and it felt like it took way too long to move the story along. They were cute, and it was fun to get a glimpse of them as children but I was not a fan of this choice for as long as it went on in the book. I ended ip skimming because I was getting bored. Also, I know Dylan and Justin were hand-fasted for 30 days but it felt like they didn't really spend any meaningful time to really get to know each other because the kids were always there. Then, all of a sudden it felt like instalove about how Justin felt about Dylan and BRO I had a hard time buying that.
