Thank You for Listening

Thank You for Listening
Julia Whelan

Unfortunately this was a DNF for me. 5 Stars for Julia's narration though.

An audiobook about audiobook narrators -narrated by one of my favorite audiobook narrators was right up my alley and then add to that -it was written by Julia too! Well I was excited. I enjoyed listening to the book for the voices and the characterizations but the story didn't work for me. I didn't feel connected to the two main characters, nor did I feel there was any real chemistry between the two of them. Lust? Yeah, there was lust for sure but not realistic or meaningful connection. I also found the many side stories distracting, they took me out of the main storyline too much and that was also not enjoyable. This was recommended to me as a romcom but there weren't many moments I found to be particularly funny. I'm sad this one didn't work out for me.

I'm not a fan of the deception/mistaken identity trope. If it gets resolved fairly quickly then I am ok with it but this dragged on, and it was confusing at times.
