Jul 303 Stars Lily Mayne for the story
5 Stars Michael Lesley for the narration
Michael Lesley's narration for the win! It's what kept me continuing on with the book, otherwise I would have DNF'd it. The voice he does for Wyn, phew, let me fan myself here, it was deep and slow and rough and very much like what I would picture an ancient monster character to sound like. As for the book itself, eh, it was ok.
I liked the world building at first, but then nothing really happened to keep it interesting. I liked Danny and Wyn well enough but nothing really happened between them that was super interesting either and then the sex started. (eyeroll) Once they started having a sexual relationship then it was pages and pages and pages of overly descriptive and awkward sounding sex, and while I do enjoy a spicy book, all they seemed to be doing after the sex started was fucking all. the. time. The plot barely moved because the sex was becoming the plot.
Their conversations were stunted, with Danny doing all the talking, Wyn mostly grunts and talks in very few sentences. When something finally happens that finally moves the book forward, it's jarringly violent and isn't satisfactorily resolved. The whole book was kind of boring tbh.
